Women’s Ministry

Sovereign Grace Chapel Women’s Ministry exists to glorify God by encouraging women to worship Him and the Lord Jesus Christ through study and application of Scripture, and deepening of relationships with each other through fellowship, accountability, and discipleship.

Why the camphire flower?

Camphire is a plant known in the Middle East for its fragrant blossoms and varied medicinal uses. Song of Solomon uses camphire as a metaphor for someone who is loved and cherished (1:14, 4:13).  This is what the Word of God is to those who love Him: fragrant, healing, loved, and cherished.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul, making the wise simple, rejoicing the heart, enlightening the eyes… the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold” (Psalm 19:7-10)

Study and Application of Scripture

We are told throughout Scripture to be transformed, to be holy, to be set apart, to be imitators of God and to have the mind of Christ. Our desire for women’s Bible study is to facilitate an ever-growing intimacy with our Lord and to come alongside other women as we study the Word of God together.

  • We alternate studying through an Old Testament and New Testament book in an effort to increase biblical literacy amongst our women.

  • Each study lasts between 10-14 weeks with breaks corresponding to the public school calendar.

Please see our Bible Study page for more information

Deepening of Relationships

We seek to deepen relationships amongst the women of our church through fellowship, accountability, and discipleship.

  • Fellowship

We seek to provide the women of SGC many opportunities for fellowshipping with one another. This usually takes the form of events or gatherings. Please see our Calendar of Events for more information.

  • Accountability and Discipleship

We consider the call of Titus 2:3-5 to be a crucial part of women’s ministry. Our goal is to see mature Christian women trained up to be “disciplers” and connect them with younger women in the faith to walk alongside them and encourage them to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ so that they too might grow in maturity and be equipped to disciple others.

Discipleship will look different amongst various groupings of women. Some need specific training in biblical and doctrinal knowledge, others might need more focused accountability, while still others need a mature Christian sister to walk alongside them and help them apply the Gospel to their everyday life. Discipleship is not a program or a checklist of things to be done, but a mutual coming together for a period of time for the specific purpose of growing the younger sister in maturity so that she might better reflect the image of Christ and fulfill her calling in the context of the local church.
